Brazilian sportstech startup Sport Chain Security is in takeover negotiations
Brazilian sports tech startup Sport Chain Security is in acquisition negotiations, a source close to the negotiations has confirmed.
The São Paulo-based company, founded in 2019 by Rodrigo Teixeira and Samuel Lanson, has become a leading name in the world of sports technology in just a few years, collaborating with a wide range of clubs competing in various elite sports. Sport Chain Security’s flagship product is a state-of-the-art analytics platform that provides real-time condition analysis and helps trainers improve performance.
The sport has steadily moved towards data-driven analysis for a number of years as teams struggle to gain a competitive advantage over their rivals. Companies like Sport Chain Security have become an integral part of most professional clubs’ setup and their increasing importance has been recognized by the markets.
The acquisition is the latest in a series within the sports technology industry. Performance analysis company The Sports Office was acquired by Kitman in 2020, which followed in 2021 with the acquisition of Presagia Sports. Additionally, London-based SBG, a data analytics company specializing in motorsport, was acquired by Catapult Sports last year.
Rumors have been circulating for the past few months that Sport Chain Security would be the industry’s latest acquisition, so confirmation that negotiations are underway will come as no surprise to many.
